Opening Night Is October 23: Three Days to Go
HEAVEN TOKYO opens in three days, on Friday, October 23. On opening night the doors open at 9:00 p.m. and the bar stays open until 5:00 a.m. It is three minutes on foot from Seibu-Shinjuku Station, on the ground floor of the GEST34 Building. We run a Korean bar in Higashi-Shinsaibashi, Osaka, and this will be our first night in Tokyo. Here is what we are getting ready.

Opening night: Friday, October 23, from 9:00 p.m.
The doors open at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23. The address is GEST34 Building 1F Room 103, 2-45-16 Kabukicho, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, a three-minute walk from Seibu-Shinjuku Station. From the first night we keep our regular hours until 5:00 a.m., so you can come after a late shift, after dinner in Shin-Okubo, or after another place has closed for the night. Put the address into your map app and you will find the door without trouble.
What is waiting on the first night
The bar has eight counter seats and nothing else, which is the whole point. On the shelves are soju, makgeolli and the makings of somaek, next to Japanese whisky, shochu and sours. For 2,500 yen you get an hour of all-you-can-drink with a choice of about 80 cocktails, and soju and makgeolli are part of it. The karaoke machine has Korean and Japanese songs. In Osaka we lost count of the nights when a Japanese regular and a Korean traveller sitting side by side ended up singing the same song. We are bringing that counter to Tokyo as it is.

If you cannot make it on opening weekend
That is fine. We are open every day of the year, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., so pick any night that suits you. You do not need Korean or Japanese to get through the evening: point at the menu, and the person next to you will usually fill in the words you are missing. If you are visiting Tokyo and want one night where you actually talk with locals, a single counter seat is enough. Seats are few, so if your date is fixed, use the reservation button on this site to hold one.
FAQ
- Can I walk in on opening night without a reservation?
- Yes, if a seat is free we will show you straight in. With only eight counter seats, though, booking through the reservation button on this site is the surer way.
- What time does HEAVEN TOKYO open on October 23?
- At 9:00 p.m., the same as every night, and we stay open until 5:00 a.m. From the next day on, the hours are the same every day of the year.
- Is this the same bar as the one in Osaka?
- Yes. HEAVEN TOKYO is the first Tokyo bar from HEAVEN, a Korean bar in Higashi-Shinsaibashi, Osaka, and it is built around the same idea: Koreans who like Japan and Japanese who like Korea sharing one counter.
