Tokyo Halloween 2026: Drink in Costume in Shinjuku
Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31. Shibuya Ward bans drinking on the streets around its station all year round, and Shinjuku Ward restricts it in parts of the Shinjuku Station area from 5:00 p.m. that night until 5:00 a.m. So where can you sit down with a drink without taking your costume off? HEAVEN TOKYO, a Korean bar in Shinjuku, lets you in as you are on October 31 and pours you a complimentary glass of herbal liqueur. Here are the rules, then the plan.

Shibuya and Shinjuku: the 2026 street-drinking rules
Since October 1, 2024, Shibuya Ward has prohibited drinking on streets, in parks and in other public spaces within a designated zone around Shibuya Station between 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., every day of the year, not only at Halloween. Shinjuku Ward has issued its Halloween 2026 notice: street drinking is restricted in parts of the station area, including Shinjuku 3-chome, from 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. Both wards publish maps of the zones on their official websites; check them before you go out.
October 31: come in costume, first glass on the house
Shinjuku Ward's advice is simple: if you want to drink, do it inside a bar, by the bar's rules. HEAVEN TOKYO is one of those bars. On October 31 you can walk in wearing whatever you spent the evening in; there is no need to find somewhere to change. Everyone who comes in gets one glass of herbal liqueur free. Make that your first drink, look over at the costume on the next stool, and swap notes on which streets you have been through.

See the streets first; the bar is open until 5:00 a.m.
The natural order on Halloween night is streets first, bar second. HEAVEN TOKYO stays open until 5:00 a.m., so you can watch the crowds build after the 5:00 p.m. restriction kicks in, then walk three minutes toward Seibu-Shinjuku Station and take a seat. The last train stops mattering; the first one is your ride home. Opening day is Friday, October 23. Halloween is the Saturday after that, and the first guests in costume will be very welcome.
